Abstract

This comprehensive article examines the critical role of data interoperability and data loss prevention in modern healthcare systems, particularly emphasizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and their implementation in Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). The article explores healthcare data integration's multifaceted challenges and opportunities, including system merger considerations during hospital acquisitions, cybersecurity implications, and the strategic implementation of value-based care initiatives. This article analyzes current practices and emerging trends and demonstrates how effective data interoperability contributes to improved patient care coordination, reduced operational costs, and enhanced healthcare delivery quality. Special attention is given to the technical requirements for system integration, risk management strategies, and compliance considerations in maintaining secure yet accessible healthcare information systems. The article highlights the importance of standardized protocols, robust security measures, and strategic planning in achieving successful healthcare data interoperability, while also addressing the challenges healthcare organizations face in balancing data accessibility with security requirements. This article provides valuable insights for healthcare administrators, IT professionals, and policymakers working to optimize healthcare delivery through improved data management and integration strategies.
