PATIENT SATISFACTION WITH TELEMEDICINE CONSULTATIONS COMPARED TO TRADITIONAL IN-PERSON VISITS

Abstract

Telemedicine is becoming more widespread in the healthcare profession as a way of giving remote consultations. This is particularly true during the COVID-19 epidemic that has been going on since 2019. Nevertheless, it is not yet known whether patients who choose telemedicine are happier than patients who choose to have in-person consultations. This systematic review will assess the existing literature to determine whether or not telemedicine consultations are superior to in-person visits from the patients' point of view. Using keywords connected to telemedicine and patient satisfaction, a search was conducted across a variety of electronic sites, including, but not limited to, Medline, ProQuest, PubMed, Ebsco, Google Scholar, and the Web of Science. An examination via the lens of the story was carried out on the included empirical experiments. This particular evaluation included a total of ten manuscripts from an assortment of clinical specialties. Most studies found that patients were satisfied with telemedicine consultations; some even discovered that patients favored telemedicine consultations over in-person sessions. The data quality was inconsistent during the investigation, and the researchers identified several informational gaps. The results section will summarize the study's findings, such as patient satisfaction with telemedicine consultations vs in-person visits. The results will be discussed, emphasizing their significance to clinical practice and future research initiatives. Nevertheless, further research is necessary to validate these conclusions and address the shortcomings identified in the existing body of research. These findings have important implications for both the theory and practice of healthcare, particularly concerning the development and enhancement of telemedicine.
